Over seventy five community members attended a breakfast at Canobolas Rural Technology High to mark the anniversary of the national apology. The breakfast was hosted by Girri Girri Sports Academy and DEEWR.
The event was organised as part of Reconciliation Australia’s acknowledgement of the National Apology twelve months on.
Guest speakers included Joe Moore who reflected on the past twelve months and the need for change to happen as a result of the national apology.
Pam Ryan School Education Director, Orange said, “For the ongoing process of reconciliation it is so important that young people understand their role and how to be part of it”.
“Also as time goes on the apology will become a historical event, so from a history point of view there is great value in reminding our students about the day”.
Member of the Girri Girri Sports Academy and Canobolas Rural Technology High School’s Captain, Sandon Gibbs-O’Neill concluded the event with a vote of thanks to the speakers.
